(BW)(CA-DREAMWORKS-STUDIOS)Shawn Levy Signs on to DreamWorks Studios' "Real Steel"
Los Angeles, United States, Thursday, September 17, 2009 -- (Business Wire India) --
Shawn Levy will direct the adventure film "Real Steel" for DreamWorks Studios, it was announced by Stacey Snider, CEO and Co-Chair of DreamWorks. John Gatins is writing the latest draft of the script. Levy will also serve in a producing capacity.
Angry Films' Don Murphy and Susan Montford are producing. Steven Spielberg will executive produce, along with ImageMovers' Jack Rapke, Robert Zemeckis, and Steve Starkey.
In "Real Steel," which is set in the near-future when human boxing has been outlawed and replaced by a popular, new division, Robot Boxing, a father and his estranged teenage son reconnect to train an extraordinary fighter.

Shawn Levy directed and produced the blockbusters "Night at the Museum" and its sequel "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian." His directing credits also include the recent successful remakes of "Cheaper by the Dozen" and "The Pink Panther," as well as "Big Fat Liar" and "Just Married." He also directed and produced the upcoming "Date Night," starring Tina Fey and Steve Carell.
